This one was a revelation, at the time. And it's still got plenty of energy to give today.

Prodigal Motley Crue drummer makes good. Hey, if Snoop is deigning to work with Tommy Lee, it must be good stuff . . .

Well on of these days
We'll be in the same place
In the same place - punk
At the very same time
And when it takes place
And you wanna talk shit
Then step your ass up
And say it right to my face...

Oh, man. So many times the knowledge of what's coming can make a build-up even more energizing than the actual pay-off. And when that lyric above plays, you can just feel the anvil of aggression that's even then barrelling down on your head. Get ready to start seriously kicking ass. And if someone's out in front of you - they best get out the way.

Here we go, here we go, here we go, here we go
One - nothing wrong with me
Two - nothing wrong with me . . .

If it kicks enough ass to get Marine First Recon Battalion through Iraq (see the excellent book and miniseries Generation Kill), it kicks more than enough ass to get you through your piddling workout.

Okay, so before Incubus got all soulful and poppy (and successful), they basically kicked serious ass as a hardcore, funk, nu-metal type band. (Sort of the kind of thing Red Hot Chili Peppers could have become, if they too hadn't gotten all soulful and poppy (and successful).) This song is one of three or so off of this album that kick total ass. Don't take our word for it - press play above and hear the asskicking for yourself.

Dope is a really good find. They're not quite the smartest or most original band working this space - which would be very smart and original indeed (and, come to think of it, that band is probably actually Tool). But they are pretty smart and original - as well as hard and fast and heavy. Group Therapy is the album.
